Jim Watson has been an active ACA member for 32 years - since June 1st
1986. Jim has specialized in helping the Club with all manner of
electronic designs and construction. Many of our members recall the
large electronic control box Jim designed and built that took care of keeping our 12.5" f/8
Observatory reflector tracking properly. That scope & mount now reside
in an observatory in Lodi, Ohio at the home of Scott & Diane Horstman,
owners of Backyard Observatories who have constructed
roll-off-roof observatories all over the country, even for Harvard
University. Jim also installed the motor controller for the roll off
roof of the ACA observatory when it was built in 1988. In addition, Jim set up multiple color cameras
and video screens for the May
10, 1994 Annular Eclipse of the Sun that allowed the Club to show the
eclipse, in color, to the hundreds of public that attended the event at
our Observatory. Those efforts earned Jim an ACA Honorary
Membership status in 1995. |
