8:00PM - Call to order and
introduction of our speaker for this evening:
Mr. David L. Richards; Director, Hoover-Price Planetarium
"The Role of Amateur Astronomers and Planetariums in Contemporary Society"
Mr. Richards has held the position of Director of the Hoover-Price
Planetarium at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum in Canton for the
past eleven years. Dave is also an amateur astronomer and resides in a
semi-dark spot in Dover, Ohio. A current member of the Great Lakes
Planetarium Association, the Cleveland Regional Association of Planetariums, and
the International Planetarium Society; Dave has extensive knowledge of the topic
for his talk tonight. His daytime activities include being a decent birdwatcher,
(responsible for Audubon Society annual Winter Census, Mogadore Area,
1979-1999), adequate fisherman and an awful recorder player.
