Event Report posted by our Observatory Director on
Saturday 4/2/2016 at 12:25 PM:
We had a great time Tuesday evening with Jupiter putting
on a fabulous show. The Great Red Spot rotated into view
toward the end of the observing session and the
observers that were there were able to see the GRS near
middle of its path across the disk. The GRS was
prominent and extended well below the southern
equatorial belt. |

Impromptu Event!
The ecliptic is still relatively high, placing
Jupiter in a good position for viewing. The equatorial bands
are prominent. Open Cluster M37 is near zenith and should
put on a good show. Remember to dress for 15°F cooler than
nighttime predicted low temperature. |

Jet Stream (updates
automatically to latest available image)
The Jet Stream affects astronomical "seeing" (steadiness of the air)
If
we're in a gray area, seeing will not be as good as in a white area.
If
we're in a white area, the shorter the arrows, the better.
